  • Classes taught: Intro to Digital Graphics (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); Graphic Design I, Graphic Design II, Graphic Design IV; Typography II; Photoshop Techniques; Digital Illustration, Advanced Illustration, Drawing for Design, Senior Capstone. 

  • Build curricula. Prepare lectures, material and software demonstrations, and assignments. Build online course pages and rubrics in Blackboard Learn interface for assignment submission and grading. Guide and evaluate student work individually, lead group critiques. Manage teaching assistants in sections containing 40 students or more.

  • Coursework generally assesses understanding of composition, color theory, and the creative workflow (brainstorms, sketches, roughs, comprehensives, critiques, final). Topics include image/typography integration, logo design, infographics, combined media illustration, prototyping for interactive design.

  • Highlight student achievements by regularly displaying top student projects for exhibition in the School of Communication gallery.

  • Class sizes: 18–130 students.

  • Manage, upgrade, and maintain the VC Print Lab, a well-equipped printing lab and collaborative workspace for Visual Communication students.   • Connected students with real-world client (Native Seeds SEARCH of Tucson, AZ) upon creation of “Seed Diaries” project. Students illustrated the cultural significance of native plants for this nonprofit organization that conserves, promotes, and distributes seeds native to the Sonoran region. The plants' rich stories and histories were made accessible through exhibition and printed media. Work was selected for display at the Seed Conservation Center and for traveling exhibition.
